The UK business travel, or travel management, market is estimated to be worth in excess of £25 billion per annum.

The Institute of Travel & Meetings is the recognised body for business travel, representing over 2,800 buyer and supplier members from 5 UK & Ireland regions. Membership represents FTSE 100 companies, major government departments and major limited liability partnerships such as law firms and accountants.

ITM provides the best possible support, information and opportunities to enable members to achieve best practice in managing travel and meeting spend effectively and to maximise the profitability of their organisations.

ITM promotes the belief that efficient and effective travel management requires good planning, strong negotiation skills, effective communication and in depth knowledge of the supply chain involved in an organisations travel programme such as  airlines, ground transportation, hotels, travel services providers and travel related technology.

Acting as a purchasing body, the Institute regularly contributes to consultative groups involving suppliers, other related associations, government and NGOs.

ITM is both a partner of and the service provider for GBTA Europe, established by ITM and GBTA in 2010 to provide a single buyer-led network for Europe and ultimately globally, to undertake research, education, benchmarking and events for travel and meetings management professionals around the world.
